Busoga and Bukedi regions the most poverty stricken; UBOS report

Kasese district hit by cholera; over 70 hospitalized.

By Generation News Due to the ongoing heavy rains countrywide,  Kasese district has been hit by an outbreak of Cholera leaving Over 70 people admitted at Bwera Hospital in critical condition. Kasese District Health Officer Yusuf Baseka has confirmed the outbreak but said that no deaths have so far been recorded. He has however blamed the outbreak on the ongoing series of floods that have washed away latrines into water sources thereby contaminating drinking water with fecal matter. “Cholera outbreaks are in most cases caused by exposure to fecal contaminated water or food,” he explained. Doctor Kizza Besigye is in Nangeye Parish, Naboa S/County, Budaka district to attend the burial of the late Samusai Gideon Mugole, father to Budaka County MP Mbogo Kezekia.
