By Generation News The process to consider of the  controversial Constitution (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, 2017 by Parliament’s legal committee is  expected to cost taxpayers atleast 715 million shillings. The bill presented to parliament by Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi seeks to amend Article 102 (b) of the Constitution, which caps the presidential age at 75. President Yoweri Museveni could become the first direct beneficiary of the proposed amendment, should the upper age cap be removed. EC conducts fresh voter registration ahead of LC 1 Elections

By Generation News The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to conduct fresh registration of Ugandans ahead of the lower local council elections. Ugandans are on November 21st this year expected to go to the polls to elect their Local Council one and Local Council two executives. Before the polls, however, all voters will undergo fresh registration to be eligible to vote or to contest according to the guidelines from the national electoral body. EC has set October 26th to October 30th as dates for fresh registration of voters ahead of elections. Nambooze and several opposition MPs including Mitiyana Municipality MP Hon. Zaake Francis were injured in parliament last month when Special Force Officers stormed the August house to evicted them after being suspended by the speaker for three sittings.
